Our Story

Restore Hope was founded in light of Isaiah 61:1-4 and Matthew 25:33-45, with the mission to connect homeless women to vital resources while building relationships with them and working to uncover and address the underlying causes of each person’s situation. Taking the time to build relationships not only reminds these women that they matter, but allows us to provide personalized services that address each woman’s unique story.

Restore Hope began as a whisper in the heart of our founder Kathryn in 2012. The organization was incorporated in September 2015 and received official recognition as a federal 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in 2016. Our first New York City outreach efforts began in summer 2016, with volunteer teams walking the streets to distribute hygiene care packages, snacks, resource information, seasonal items, and, most importantly, hope and love. In 2017 we transitioned to Community Game Days, inviting local women to step out of their daily routines and join us for a morning of friendship, games, nail care, coloring, snacks, hygiene kits, resource info, and more.

“The Spirt of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has annointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn, to console those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.”

— Isaiah 61:1-3 (NKJV)
