Beginning in January 2025, Restore Hope will hold monthly outreach events at the Harriet Tubman Women’s Shelter in Washington DC. We have three main objectives for these events:

  1. Provide food for shelter residents: Dinner is provided daily, but the women only get lunch if there is a donation. Weekends are usually filled with donations, but often on weekdays they have to go without. We will work with the shelter staff to plan our events for a weekday when the residents would not otherwise get food during the day.
  2. Connect residents with resources: DC has a wealth of resources available to assist women with everything from food to medical care, shelter and beyond. As we get to know the ladies during our outreaches, we will be able to help connect them with resources to help meet their specific needs.
  3. Build community with the residents: Homelessness can be an incredibly isolating experience. We want to provide the women with the opportunity to meet new friends and have friendly interactions not centered on their circumstances. The more we can build community and friendships, the more trust we will gain!

We need your help to make these events a reality! You can join our Partners in Hope team or make a donation to help us provide food and support for shelter residents.

We are also looking for volunteers to join us in-person at our outreach events and to help us continue to build our resource database so we can connect more women to the help they need. Fill out our volunteer interest form and we will connect with you about details!
